SEED Academy Atlanta
As Atlanta’s population grows and our housing needs deepen, we will continue to need experienced, savvy developers with the will and capacity to build affordable housing and commercial spaces. In December 2023, Grow America (formerly the National Development Council – NDC) in partnership with The Guild hosted the Supporting Empowered Emerging Developers (SEED) Academy in Atlanta. The program provides free development training, mentorship, and access to predevelopment funds to a cohort of 25 emerging developers of color in the Atlanta Metro.

Training
A week-long development accelerator focused on the fundamentals of development, including:
- Concept Development
- Establishing Site Control
- Preparing the Pro forma
- Securing Financing and Equity
- Tax Credits and Other Government Sources
- Affordability
Mentorship
Participants learned directly from and established relationships with industry and sector leaders. They also received technical assistance to refine their capstone projects, and were connected to long-term mentors.
Investment
Participants are eligibile for funding to support their final project, from a $75,000 pool of forgivable pre-development loans at 0% interest.
