Planting the Seeds of Community Wealth in Southwest Atlanta
Friday, November 20 @ 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM
918 Dill Avenue
Atlanta, Georgia 30310
A community gathering for Southwest Atlanta, hosted by the SWATS Community Stewardship Trust at the new (Im)Possible Futures Lab at 918 Dill.
What are your dreams for the community of Southwest Atlanta? How do we plant seeds today for the abundance we’ll reap tomorrow?
Join us for a fall community gathering focused on building economic power in Southwest Atlanta. Together, we’ll map the local opportunities to bank, invest, spend, own, and build wealth right here in our community—and we’ll grapple with the bigger question underneath it all: what can we make possible together that none of us could do alone? Through community banking, cooperative ownership, and local investment, residents can strengthen both personal financial well-being and the local economy, while moving our shared resources toward a future we build on purpose.
This gathering gains inspiration from the Honorable Harvest, an Indigenous framework for taking from the earth with respect, gratitude, and restraint. We will apply its principles—reciprocity over extraction, sufficiency, gratitude, and kinship—to reframe “wealth” not as financial accumulation, but as the health, resilience, and interconnectedness of a community and its homeland.
This is one of the first events in the (Im)Possible Futures Lab at 918 Dill Ave—a space for imagining and building the community we want to harvest.
What can we make possible together that none of us could do alone?
