The Guild began as a purpose-incubator, designed to help change-makers launch and scale their ventures while maintaining an intentional and sustainable lifestyle. Located in scenic East Lake Commons, an ecovillage in East Atlanta, The Guild combined co-housing principles with social entrepreneurship. Fellows in the program weren’t just roommates, they were collaborators.

Through a community engagement process in 2017, this property was named the Awethu House. “Amandla Awethu!”, a popular rallying cry in the days of resistance against apartheid, loosely translates to “Power to the People”, which is fitting for this historic property on Auburn Avenue. The Awethu House was developed with a historic and cultural preservation lens and is home to community-minded individuals and organizations.
